A native of Salt Lake City, Laura is a graduate of the University of Utah with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Education. She has taught in the Salt Lake District and been a member of the district’s reading and writing assessment committee. Currently, she is a member of the O. C. Tanner Scholarship Selection Committee. Active in the community, she has been the Junior Team Tennis coordinator for the State of Utah participating in organized competitions and acting as the director of the State Playoffs for the Utah Junior Team Tennis (1992-2001). Married to Royal Hansen, they are the parents of five children.
