The Grand Entry
This picture shows a Native American bearing the eagle staff. Part of the opening ceremony, the eagle staff represents a sacred instrument of blessing for good dancing, singing and intertribal fellowship.

Fancy Dancer
Father and son Fancy Dancers help each other prepare for the Fancy Dance Competition.

Each dance in this competition wears a roach on the head, colorful bustle on the neck and lower back, bead work, scarves and bells. They dance at a fast pace, whirling and showing off fancy footwork

Drummers and Singers
Providing the music for the dancers, there were about 5 different drum circles that took turns singing and drumming. Each of these were in competition with each other.

Grass Dancer
Notice the long yarn or ribbon fringe on this dancer. This imitates the grass of the original traditional outfit. This exciting dance also incorporates complex steps, grace and rhythm.
