The Tabernacle organ is one of the finest pipe organs
in the world. Constructing the original organ was by Australian
organ builder Joseph Ridges who fashioned pipes from tall, straight-grained
pine that ox-drawn wagons hauled 300 miles to Salt Lake City.
Since its completion, the organ has been renovated and enlarged
several times, and it now has 11,623 pipes, 206 ranks of voices,
and a console with five manuals (keyboards) |
